Always wanted to learn hand building?
At NOMO Ceramics you can make your
ceramic dreams come true! Our hand building course guides you step by step through the craft, whether you’re completely new or have
some experience.
Beginner? No problem!
Never worked with clay before? No worries! We’ll start at the very beginning: building up with coils (coiling), working with slabs (slab building), and making pinch pots (pinching). Before you know it, beautiful shapes will emerge. We begin with simple items like mugs and bowls and gradually move on to more complex forms, letting you dive into your own projects. Clay can seem unpredictable at first, but with patience and the right guidance, you’ll master the techniques in no time.
Advanced? For you too!
If you already have experience and want to
refine your skills, our courses are the perfect opportunity to work on your own projects with professional guidance. Discover new
techniques that will inspire your creativity. You’ll gain more and more control over the clay and discover the extensive possibilities of
hand building.
Glazing and decorating
In this course, you’ll go beyond simply shaping clay. You’ll also dive into decorating and glazing your ceramics, allowing you to create unique and stunning creations. Whether you want to refine your
technique or reach new creative heights, you’ll find the support and inspiration you need with us.

At NOMO Ceramics, firing your ceramic work is included in the course price. Our staff carefully load and unload the kilns to ensure your creations are fired safely and optimally. To promote quality and safety, students are not allowed to load or unload the kilns themselves.
For this course, you bring your own tools. The tutor will discuss this with you in the first lesson. It is also handy to bring an apron to keep your clothes clean and a tea or old towel. A starter toolsset and apron is available for purchase at the studio at the start of the course.
To ensure the quality of your pieces and the safety of our equipment, we ask all students to purchase their clay and glazes from us in the studio.
We offer a carefully selected range of high-quality materials. Our prices are comparable to wholesale prices, so you can be assured of good materials at reasonable prices.
It is therefore not allowed to bring clay and glazes from outside. This is to minimize the risk of damage to our kilns and pieces. Different clays and glazes can cause unforeseen reactions during firing, which can lead to defects or even dangerous situations. By using our range, we can guarantee consistent quality and a safe working environment for everyone.
